My grandfather. Loved and missed by all. Papaw loved to fish, he would sit for hours in his boat and fish with us grandkids, of course he spent much of the time putting bait on our hooks than actually getting to fish himself! He was a kind and gentle man who had the respect of everyone.
Papaw served in WWII aboard the Destroyer Escort, U.S.S Forster. He was a "Plank Owner" meaning part of the first crew to sail aboard the ship. After his time during the war, he then spent over 50 years working in the Oilfield. Many were convinced Papaw could smell oil under the ground. Many of the wells he drilled 50 years ago are still pumping oil to this day!
I love and miss you Papaw.
