ELKHART -- Ruth N. Arms, 79, of 2601 Oakland Ave., died from cancer at 2:50 a.m. Thursday (April 20, 2006) at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1926, to Ray and Lillie (House) Neal in LePanto, Ark. She married James C. Arms on Feb. 16, 1946, in LePanto. He died Sept. 11, 1991.
Surviving are a daughter, Norma (Sheldon) Miller of Goshen; a son, James Tobey of Elkhart; a grandson; and a sister, Gladys Williams of Virginia Beach, Va.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene and Margaret; and a brother, Theodore.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. Pastor Jim Pettit of First Baptist Church Outreach Ministries will officiate, and burial will follow at Olive Cemetery.

Mrs. Arms retired from the Ristance Corp. of Bremen in the early 1990's. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart, where she attended the Lighthouse Class. She was known for visiting and caring for the ill, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was an avid reader. She liked listening to country and bluegrass gospel music.
