David Bartelt, 91, of Paddock Lake, Wis., passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Washington Manor, Kenosha, Wis.
He was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Bloomingdale, Ill., the son of the late Albert and Caroline (Fasse) Bartelt. In 1956 he moved to Fox Lake, Ill., where he lived for 29 years, moving to Eagle River, Wis., in 1985 and in 2001 to Paddock Lake. He proudly served from 1941 to 1946 in the US Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theatre. David earned his college degree in diesel engineering and had worked for Pedersen GMC before his retirement.
On June 28, 1947, he married Miriam (Grenier) at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chicago, Ill.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Miriam; his sisters, Patricia (Richard) Knight of Bonsall, Calif.; Lillian Bartelt of Berkley, Ill., Jeanne Kampitch of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Phyllis Kolane of Lindenhurst, Ill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Wilbert.
