Ljubica was born on February 2, 1920 to Mate and Ane Antolos in Zablace, Croatia. She was the first of their 3 children.
At 17 years old, Ljubica was married to Bare Ljubic, a local carpenter. The couple had 3 daughters Dragica, Andelka, and Ivanica.
Ljubica had a very hard life, her youngest daughter Ivanica passed away at 6 months old. Her husband was killed in 1943, leaving her with no husband and two small children at age 23.
Living with her parents, she worked with scuba divers pumping air to them for a living. Her small daughters went to school, and after 3rd grade, Dragica stopped going to school to work in the feilds with her grandmother.
A very artistic person, Ljubica was always seen working on needle-point, these skills were passed down to her daughters.
Sadly, always sick, Ljubica developed Leukemia, and passed away on May 28, 1967 at age 47. She saw 3 of her 4 grandchildern, her name-sake Violet never got to meet her grandmother.
She was survived by her parents, daughters Dragica and Andelka, 4 grandchildren, sisters, and many nieces and nephews. Today she would have 8 great grandchildren.
**I just want to say I feel a special connection to my great grandma, even though I never met her. I am very close with my grandma, and I feel like I really missed out on her. I keep some of her work and hold it dear. Rest In Peace Baba Ljubica...Ja Te Volim! -Michael**
