Dr. Norman G. Arnt, 90, passed away Saturday, May 16, at his home in Lomita, Calif.
He was born in East Stroudsburg on Sept. 10, 1918, son of the late Tony and Edith (Garris) Arnt.
He was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, class of 1936, and East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, class of 1940.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge in 1944, he and his wife Flora (Budd) Arnt traveled to California, taking one month to enjoy the scenery before settling in Los Angeles.
He continued his education, earning his master's and doctor's degrees while teaching full time. This was his life-long dream.
He and his wife, who passed away in 1999, donated their bodies to a medical college.
He is survived by his sister, Harriet Neiderer of Flint, Mich.; nieces Betty Muffley of Stroudsburg, Stephanie Beyer of Hanover, Patricia Megann of Easton; a nephew, Donald Neiderer of Burton, Mich.; cousins Elston Arnt of Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews great-great, great and great-great-great. He leaves to cherish his memory two close friends, Rosana Silva and Dennis Hecht.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora; his parents; sisters Irene Ace, Lorraine Gorman and Helen Mensch; niece Loretta Frailey; and nephews Harold Gorman and Wallace Ace.
There will be no service per Norman's request.
