Efthimia Antonopoulos, 80, of Stroudsburg, died Monday morning at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Theodore Antonopoulos, at home.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1928, in Epitalion Elias, Greece.
She lived with her husband in Essex County, N.J., for 20 years before moving to Pennsylvania 20 years ago. She was a phenomenal cook and a great storyteller. She had an infectious personality which everyone loved. Effie was extremely opinionated and loved her family very much. She had tremendous faith and was actively involved in her church.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, Theodore, she is survived by two daughters, Helen Hennessy and her husband, Jim, of Frederick, Md., and Fanny Drimonis and her husband, Dimitrios, of West Orange, N.J.; four grandchildren: Dimitrios, Teddy, Effie and Tessa; two sisters, Katherine and Georgia; one brother, Peter; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, April 16, at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 135 Stokes Ave., Stroudsburg, with Father Theodore Petrides officiating. Burial will be in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Fifth St., Stroudsburg.
