| Birth: | Jan. 7, 1859 Muskingum County Ohio, USA | | Death: | Mar. 12, 1950 Creston Union County Iowa, USA |  OBITUARY: JACK ALEXANDER Andrew Jackson Alexander, son of Richard Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Brabham Alexander, was born Jan. 7, 1859 near McConnellsville in Muskingum county, Ohio, and passed away at the Creston hospital on March 12, 1950 at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 5 days. He came to Iowa at the age of 17 and spent the remainder of his life near Lenox, resideing on the same acres he had farmed since the fall of 1881, his son Carmon and Wife, also making the home farm their home. Jack was one of 10 children, also having a twin brother George Washington Alexander who preceded him in death in July of 1909. On March 2, 1881 he was married to Sarah Ann Winslow and to the union six children were born: Frank in 1881, Gertrude (Haggerty) in 1884, Eva (Rundlett) in 1891, Edna (McAfee) in 1894, Carmon in 1896 and Ernest in 1898. The above children all survive as do 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander preceded her husband in death on Jan 27, 1920. Jack had been blind for the past 15 years, during which time he mastered many pieces on the fiddle, providing much recreation for himself and enjoyment for others. Funeral services, in charge of the Arnold Funeral Home, were conducted by the Rev. Earl Moneymaker on Wednesday March 15 at 2 PM. Music was furnished by Rolland Buxton with Ruth Boltinghouse at the piano. Pallbears were Harold Black, Wesley Crouch, Lonnie Walter, Homer Walter, Kenneth Eberle and Harold Baker. Interment in Fairview cemetery.
