"One of the best known pioneers of Woody Point, in the person of Mr. Peter Boardman, passed away on January 21, after a short illness. The late Mr. Boardman was born at Overton, England, 79 years ago. He came to Queensland with his wife and four children in the steamer Duke of Buckingham, 49 years ago. In 1930 they celebrated their diamond wedding. The passing of Mr. Boardman is the first bereavement suffered by the Boardman family. Mrs. Boardman, 80 years of age, and 10 children, ranging from 35 to 57 years, are the survivors. There are 23 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. The late MR. Boardman was one of the founders of the first progress association on the Peninsula, also a member of the Redcliffe Shire Council a few years ago. He also took an active part in the early Humpybong regattas and the Woody Point Memorial School of Arts. The funeral took place at the Redcliffe Cemetery, the Rev. A. W. King, Church of England, officiating at the graveside. There were numerous wreaths, and a large assemblage paid its last tributes to the well-known pioneer."
