Bio by Granddaughter, Madge GRAVES Widdifield 1904-1988:
Grandma Susan is said to have attended LIEBER COLLEGE. I believe Son, Harvey Ashcraft 1889-1980 told me (Madge's Uncle) this. As a young woman, Miss Susan CAMPBELL was a School Teacher. However, married women were not allowed to teach during that time period. Grandma Susan was approximately 5 feet 4 inches in height and slender. Parsnips were a favorite vegetable of hers according to End of Bio by Granddaughter, Madge GRAVES Widdifield 1904-1988

March 24, 1901 Susan Hannah CAMPBELL Ashcraft died aged 52 years, 9 months, and 26 days of consumption in Fort Recovery, Mercer County, Ohio, USA CAUSE OF DEATH according to Wikipedia.org: Consumption: Tuberculosis, MTB, or TB (short for tubercle bacillus), in the past also called phthisis, phthisis pulmonalis, or consumption. The classic symptoms of active TB infection are a chronic cough with blood-tinged sputum, fever, night sweats, and weight loss (the latter giving rise to the formerly common term consumption).

Bio of Mother Written by Son, Harvey Leonard Ashcraft 1889-1980:

Sue Ashcraft Campbell was the first wife, and true love of Emanuel Sampson Ashcraft. She said to her girl friends at a church social "See that fellow over there - pointing at Grandpa. That's the man I am going to marry." They had not yet met.

Her mother was Rachel Money Campbell, an ordained minister of the Gospel. It has been a long standing family rumor that she is a descendant of Florence Nightengale and her family. It has not been documented to my knowledge.
