Emerson BUSH
BUSH, EmersonAge 89 of Hot Springs, died July 16, 2010. He was born in Nashville, TN to the late James Murray and Bessie (Owen) Bush. "Pappy" was raised in Nashville and Franklin, TN and lived for a short time in Detroit, MI during the Depression. He and his father "Daddy Murray" had a truck gardening business, and he also worked for Vultee Aircraft in Nashville as World War II began. He fought in the Pacific Theatre as a motor machinist and gunner on the battleship U.S.S. Texas. He participated in a number of fierce battles, including Okinawa and others off the coast of Japan. When Emerson returned from the war, he started and ran a wholesale bait business from his farm west of Franklin. He created a park-like environment for his family that his wife, Eva, named Edenour Farm. Emerson was an accomplished artist who expressed his love of life through his oil paintings. Emerson's golfing buddies called him "The Minnow Man" and he always had a joke, a smile, a hug or handshake for everyone he met. When "Pappy" came into a room, people noticed. When he left they all wished he was still there...and so do we. He is predeceased by his wife, Eva Bush and a sister, Evelyn Spencer. Survivors include one son, Dennis Bush and wife, Mary Anne of Franklin, TN; daughter, Donna Nichols of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Suzanne Russell and husband, Mark of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held July 31, 2010 at 10 a.m., with a Memorial service to follow at 11 a.m., at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Jim Taylor officiating. Emerson's final resting place will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, during a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
