Mollie Allen Succumbs
A native Lawrence countian, Mrs. Mollie M. Allen, died at 11:45 p. m. Sunday at
her home, 724 South Eighth Street, Mitchell, at the age of 63.
She was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Pitman Moffatt, and was born November
1, 1888. On March 1, 1911, she became the wife of Frank Allen in Orange County.
Mrs. Allen had lived near Georgia in Spice Valley Township most of her life
until seven years ago, when she moved to Mitchell.
She was a member of the Huron Church of God.
Rites will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, at the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene
with Rev. Schimpf officiating. Interment will be in the Knott Cemetery, five
miles southwest of Bedford.
The body is lying in state at the Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell.
Surviving are the husband; six daughters, Miss Ruby Allen at home, Mrs. Norman
Quinn and Mrs. Floyd Waterson, both of Mitchell, Mrs. Marshall Worsham of South
Bend, Mrs. James Evans of Indianapolis, and Mrs. A. D. Williams of Williams;
five sons, Harry of Mitchell, Arthur of New Castle, Ray of Bloomington, and
Homer and Lester of Anderson; 28 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur
Pruett of West Baden, Mrs. Courtland Pruett of Mitchell, and Mrs. Roscoe Terrell
of Phoenix, Arizona; and four brothers, Raymond, Willie, and Harvey Moffatt, all
of Mitchell, and Joe Moffatt of Peru, Indiana.
Haverly Mortuary of Mitchell is in charge of arrangements.
