Elmo was married to Winona Mae Replogle (03 August 1940) and father to six children. Wanda Darlene Ritter Price, Jimmie Ray Ritter, Richard Lee Ritter, Linda Sue Ritter Stratton, Janice Merlyn Ritter Watts, and Douglas Allen Ritter (infant 12.16.1962/buried in this cemetery). Elmo lived most his life in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He worked for Texaco many years also served on the Cherokee Fire Department.

Elmo's parents were Mable D. Hohn Ritter and John A. Ritter (buried also in the Ware Cemetery, Byron, OK). Elmo's grandparents were William Ritter (d. 1880 in MO.), and Mary Esther Teel Ritter Beard (buried Ware cemetery). Elmo had one sister Mary "Sue" Ritter Brake (d.1938 in CA / buried in the Pomona, CA cemetery) and brothers Earl L. "Ike" Ritter and Gene Ritter (buried in Ware Cemetery) and John D. "Jack" Ritter (buried in Anthony, KS). All of this family have a Find A Grave page.

Elmo loved his family, he loved hunting and his many hunting dogs. The family loved his dogs: Pal, Butch and Pete. Elmo loved his mother and siblings and he adored his grandchildren ~ although he only lived to meet seven (Leslie, Lisa, & Marc Price, Patrick & Tanya Ritter, and Jeanette & Brian S.) of his 15 ~ Later these grand children were born: Lori Price, Krystal & Ann Marie Ritter, Heather and John Stratton, and Adam, Clark, and Whitney Watts.
