DEATH OF MRS. CARNEY
The community was shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. John Carney, which occurred sometime Sunday night. Mrs. Carney had gone to bed apparently in good health and was found dead in bed Monday morning. Mrs. Carney who was formerly Mrs. Parrott, was 45 years of age and leaves four children, one son, Lee, being employed by the railroad and the other three being in the Children's Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Carney was married a few months ago to John Carney of this place. She was a hard-working woman and had been all her life. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Maley Undertaking Rooms and internment was in the Hawks Park Cemetery.
(It was not uncommon, in the early 1900's, to have "undertaking rooms" in the back of pharmacies and stores. In doing some checking, there was a Maley Furniture Store located on Canal Street, that also had "undertaking rooms!")
