Obituary: Louis R. Kabelman, 81, of Petoskey, died May 17, 1995, at his home. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Zion lutheran Church in Petoskey. The Rev. Walter Teske of Zion Lutheran will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Petoskey , MI. Mr. Kabelman was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Pleasantview Township, the son of William and Martha Kabelman. He grew up in the Petoskey and Harbor Springs area. On Aug. 16, 1947, he married Ruth Bathke at Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey. Mr. Kabelman was an employee of Michigan Bell for 25 years, retiring in 1974. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and reading. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Paul and his wife, Sue of Grand Rapids, and Gerald and his wife, Jane, of Stevensville; two daughters, Janet Kabelman, of Petoskey, and Mary Ann Handwerk and her husband, Larry , of Boyne Falls; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Lena Schmidt, of Harbor Springs. Mr. Kabelman was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. Envelopes for memorial contributions are available at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, where visitation will be held from 2-4 p./m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 19. Posted in Petoskey News Review.
