Sophia Frost, daughter of Obediah Frost and Miriam Manktelow, was born in Langton Green, Kent, England and christened 20 Feb 1853 in the Parish Church, Speldhurst, Kent, England. She was baptized into the LDS Church 22 Dec 1865 in England when she was almost 13 years old.

Sophia immigrated with her brother William and their parents, to America in 1871, arriving at the New York harbor 31 July aboard the steamship Wisconsin. The family stayed in Brooklyn, New York for almost 2 years working to save enough money to continue their journey west to Utah. They arrived in Utah 29 June 1873. Her family settled in Coalville, but Sophia decided to live in Salt Lake City where employment was more readily available.

About 2 months later, at the age of 20, Sophia married became a plural wife of William Edward Winkworth 8 Sept 1873 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah. This marriage was short-lived, however, and no children were born to this union. About 6 weeks after their marriage began, Sophia left William and walked the 40 miles from Salt Lake City back to Coalville to live with her parents. Sophia and William later divorced.

Sophia married a civil war veteran named William Riley Amens 3 July 1883 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sophia (Frost) Amens died 15 Dec 1942 in Lakeside, California and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lakeside 18 Dec 1942.
