My Step Dad~
Son Of LeRoy & Elsie Bardett~
Husband Of Linda Lea Smith~
My Dad was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California, then attended college in Glendale. During his college years he learned to fly and received his pilot's license. He also played the violin in the Los Angeles City Orchestra.
He served 10 years in the Marines at Camp Pendleton, CA. and as a Postmaster. He also played Taps and Reveille.
On November 14, 1974, He married Linda Smith in Claremont, CA. Between them, they had seven children.
Before and after his service time, he worked for Kaiser Steel in California as a steelworker, retiring in 1980, after 27 years. After he retired, Ken and Linda moved to Olathe, Kansas, where he was employed by Mayflower Bus Co. for a number of years as a Bus Driver and Mechanic.
In 1990 they moved to Logan, Kansas where he was employed by Goddard Manufacturing, building beautiful winding staircases.
He was a pilot, gardener, mechanic, cook, musician, steel worker, postmaster, Marine, Father, Grandpa and Husband!
My Dad was always up and going and had to be doing something!
He loved fishing, hunting and was a gun collector.
He enjoyed watching TV every evening, and especially enjoyed old war movies and was a remote control nut! He loved to come in a room and tease us kids by hogging the remote and turning the TV to old boring war movies! He would just sit there and grin as we hollard and fussed about it! HE LOVED DOING THAT! His main focus was his family. He enjoyed visiting people and baking cookies for his Grandkids!
One evening he came home and told my mom he felt like he was coming down with the flu and that he was going to go lay down a while. She checked on him a short time later and he had passed away from what we later learned was an aneurysm that led to his heart.
He is Greatly Missed By His Kids and Grandkids!
We Love and Miss You Dad
