Together they raised 4 children; Linda Whitehead, deceased 3/97, Andy Goodenough, deceased 6/71, Ken Goodenough of Woodland and Karen Iverson of Rancho Cordova. Also survived by caring son-in-law Jay Iverson and Great Grand Daughter Kristi Iverson, 3 brothers Ray, Roy, Ray and 1 sister Vonita. Preceded in death by 5 brothers; George, Buck, Elmus, Sam, Frank and 1 sister Judy. Had several grandchildren and great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and many good friends and neighbors. He will be missed by special friend Soo Mary Dong and terribly missed by his little buddy Chubbie.
He was born in Oklahoma, April 20, 1917 and came to CA at the age of 18, where he has lived ever since. He proudly served in the Arm during WWII from 1941-1945. He was stationed in the Philippines where he received the Philippine Liberation Medal with a bronze star, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He's a lifelong member of VFW Post 85. He worked as a farm hand, cab driver, Campbell Soup employee and retired in 1978 from the City Corporation Yard where he worked over 20 years as a street sweeper, driver.
After retirement he did volunteer work at Senior Citizens of Sacramento for several years. He enjoyed camping, watching Rodeos and baseball games on TV. He spent many hours yakking on the phone to friends and family and playing dominoes with Kristi. He was a very loving and kind man with a heart of gold. H will be missed by many.
