Violet Hilda Schmidt was born on the 23rd of September 1925 in Portland, Oregon, the eighth of twelve children of Henry and Anna (Tschetter) Schmidt. She married Rouque M. deLagasse on February 3, 1952 in Vancouver, Washington. Rouque was the son of George H. deLagasse and Tilly Ann Quesnell. He died in an auto accident on June 12, 1974 in Vancouver.

Vi passed away on April 1, 2007 at the Roy Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. Burial is next to her husband of twenty two years, Rouque deLagasse, in The Garden of Apostles, Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Vancouver, Washington.

She is survived by her sons, Rouque B. and Rene C. deLagasse, grandchildren: Brandon, Felisha, Timothy, Kaitlyn, Heather and Dana, great-grandson: Julian, and her sister Juanita Richards of Christmas Valley, Oregon. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.
