Former Hutchinson Pioneer Succumbed to Paralysis

The report came to Hutchinson yesterday that Christopher C. Wilkinson, an old resident of Hutchinson and Reno County, died several days ago in Wakita, Okla. where he had resided for the last several years. Mr. Wilkinson came to Hutchinson in 1875 and remained there until the Cherokee Strip opened. He then went to Oklahoma and has lived in Wakita since that time.
He has seven children living, one of whom is Mrs. V.C. Stanfield, lives in Hutchinson. When he died, he had twenty-seven grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilkinson was an old soldier and served three years in the Civil War as a flag bearer from the state of Indiana. He died in Wakita, Okla. on Aug. 18 after a stroke of paralysis.
According to his funeral home records he served during the Civil War with a unit from Indiana.
