Richard (Dick) Adamec, 61, lost his battle with cancer and died at home on Monday, March 5, 2012, with his wife, Jan, at his side.
Dick will be remembered as a caring friend, special brother, devoted son and above all a loving husband and father. His passion for sports included coaching baseball, bowling, golfing, and being an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Bears. He was an avid reader and lover of all types of music. Together, he and Jan enjoyed their leisure time spent on the beaches of Michigan and Florida, and in the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire.
Dick was born on August 6, 1950 to Arthur and Anne (Rehak) Adamec, and spent his entire life in the New Buffalo area. He graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1968, where he was a talented pitcher for the Bison, which enabled him to be a walk on for the CMU Chippewas.
He was the sole proprietor of Adamec Decorating. He was well respected in his field because of his meticulous attention to detail, and dedication to his clients. Many of his clients became lifelong friends.
Dick is survived by his wife Jan of 32 years; his son Brian (Emily); his mother Anne; brother Art (Cyndi); nephews Jeff and Justin and favorite niece Tonya Eastman as well as many other family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Adamec, Sr.
Of all of Dick's accomplishments, he was most proud of his son. A service celebrating Dick's life will be held in May or June pending Brian's return from Afghanistan, where he is serving our country in the U. S. Army. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Red Cross or Hospice at Home (4017 Chamberlain Rd., Buchanan, MI 49107).
