Thomas Henry Clitheroe, 73, of 770 N. 1100 E., died Friday at his home of natural causes.
He was born May 30, 1899 in Norfolk, England, a son of Henry and Emma Lou Lawton Clitheroe. He married Guelda Mae Elsmore on Dec 22, 1934 in Provo.
Mr. Clitheroe received his early education in England. He came to Utah as a young boy, attending school in Panguitch and Kanab. He taught school at Carbon High School and Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, then became an occupational therapist at the Utah State Hospital.
Mr. Clitheroe moved to Lyons, N.M., and worked as an occupational therapist at the Lyons Hospital, later returning to Provo.
A talented musician he was a member of the Provo City Band and a member of the Provo Musicians Union. He conducted the Veterans Band in Lyons, N.M., and taught music to private students.
He was a past member of the BPOE No. 849 and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the LDS Church, belonging to the Provo 13th Ward.
Surviving are his widow; two sons and two daughters, Jay B. Clitheroe, Salt Lake City; E.W. Bush, LaJolla, Calif.; Mrs. Dean (Marjorie) Herrick, LaMesa Calif., and Mrs. Earl (Mae) Gossard, Orem; 15 grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. Elsie Clitheroe, Santa Fe, N.M., a brother and sister, Dr. E.L. Clitheroe, Lafayette, Ind., and Mrs. Lena Godfrey, Oakland, Calif.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, Provo with Bishop Edwin B. Morrell officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services. Interment will be in the American Fork Cemetery with full military rites.
