Mr. Elice "Bill" Allen, age 90, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Cocke County Convalescent Center.
He was born November 21, 1919, a son of the late Alex Allen and Sadie Hance.
He was a retired farmer.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Maxine Allen, daughter Brenda Allen, brother, Floyd Allen and wife Pearle, brother, Jim Allen and wife Blanche, brother, Earnest Allen and wife Willie Kate, all formerly of Newport; half-brother, Charley Ramsey and wife Mary of Morristown, sister, Grace Valentine and husband Dee, and sister, Rowe Sawyer and husband Fred, all of Newport.
Mr. Allen is survived by his son, Rev. James Allen and wife Linda, daughter, Patsy Jane Allen, and son Billy Violet and wife Mary all of Newport; grandchildren, Mike Allen of Newport; Jack Allen and wife Michelle of Cosby; Jessica Allen of Maryville; Mike Violet and wife Jenny of Atlanta, GA; and Dewayne Allen and wife Bobbie of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Mike, Christopher, and Megan Violet, all of Atlanta; Sammy and Allan Allen of Maryville; Shane Bailey of Cosby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Costner-Maloy Funeral Home with the Rev. Artie Sturm and the Rev. Wayne Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services. Interment will follow the funeral in the Ray's Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Cameron, Tommy Allen, Sr., Bobbie Sawyer, Ray Travis, Jimmy Myers, and Hubert Chapman.
