R. Altman Dies at 69 Thursday - KNOX - Reuben M. Altman, 59, of Sligo RD2, died Wednesday evening in the Franklin Hospital following a heart attack. Born on May 24, 1901, in Beaver Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Charles B. and Clara (Knight) Altman. He lived in the Knox-Sligo area as a farmer his entire life. He also was a road supervisor of Beaver Township for a number of years. A member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Knox RD, he was an ardent supporter of community and church affairs. On August 18, 1921, he married the former Vira Hook who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Gerald (Dorothy) Burchfield of Shippenville RD1, Lawrence Altman of Shippenville RD1, Mrs. Chalmer (Christine) Snyder Knox RD2, Mrs. Kenneth (Lois) Miller of Strattanville, Reuben Altman, Jr., of Wycliff, Ohio, Richard Altman of Fairborn, Ohio, Mrs. Duane (Marlys) Myers of St. Petersburg, Mrs. Wayne (Faye) Rex of Oakland, N.J., William Altman of Alburquerque, N.M., Mrs. William (Delores) Krost of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Daryl Altman of Knox RD1; the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. bertha Neely of Knox, Mrs. Merlie Burns of Knox RD2, Mrs. Daisy Beals of Gibsonia, Alvin Altman of Knox, Mrs. Melda Wile of Franklin, Mrs. Bernice Elder of Kane, Maurice Altman of Clarington, Ohio, and George Altman of Clarington, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Ada Hook, sister, and Marvin Altman brother, both died in 1970. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today in the Roy P. Stuart Funeral Home in Knox. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Rev. Lewis R. Fox, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Paul Union Cemetery. 7/10/1970 Oil City Derrick
