LIFE TERM SENTENCE FOR EL RENO
LAD AFFIRMED
Guthrie, Okla. Dec 8 - (Special)
A life term in the penitentiary is the
fate of David Atchison, who killed
Ruel Anderson at El Reno in 1908, the
criminal court of appeals affirming his
sentence before Justice Doyle.
Anderson and Atchison lived on a
farm belonging to Dr Earp, an uncle
of the murdered man. They quarreled
over a division of the crops, at
Atchison's home. Anderson got on his
horse and started to ride away. A
load of buckshot fired from Atchison's
house struck him in the back, and he
died a few hours later. Mrs Atchison
and two daughters were the only
witnesses.
Atchison's defense was that Anderson
used insulting language to Mrs Atchison.
The murdered youth was but eighteen
years old and his murderer was forty.
