Seventeen year old Employee (kitchen worker) of Tucson (Broadway and Pantano Road) Pizza Hut murdered during a robbery along with fellow employees Melisa Mae Moniz, 20 (94321217) and Robert Thomas Curry, 44 (94321368). James was just one day and a few hours away from his eighteenth birthday.
To his friends James was known as a gentle soul and a kind, likeable and compassionate young man, always ready to help those in need. To his family, he was a beloved brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. He was a friend to the area homeless people, giving them good food that was left over at the end of the day, and loved and collected and helped various animals.
James was studying aeronautics and wanted to get a job at an air park while he completed his education.
He was getting that education the old-fashioned way . . . he was working to pay for it when he was killed. His senseless murder was a complete tragedy to all who knew and loved him, and a loss for the city and the planet. He is and will be missed forever.
Visitation was at the Wolfrey Peace Chapel. Funeral services were at the Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 710 S. Kolb Rd., and burial at All Faiths Cemetery (Garden of Saint Frances) 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes.
