James, age 81, of Highland, was reunited with his sons, grandson and many friends and family. He passed away surrounded by his loving family at Heartland Health Care Center in Platteville. Jim was born to Fred & Anna (Palan) Adametz.
He married the love of his life, the former Phyllis Wright of Fennimore, on June 14, 1945. They farmed together on his family farm and raised nine children. He was dedicated to his family and the life of a farmer until the very end. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising Bluetic hounds, with which he won many championships and national honors.
His love for the land and the outdoors was immense. He taught not only his family members, but many other close friends and relatives the many skills he had obtained throughout his life.
He was always there for love and support, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife, three daughters, four sons, 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, a sister-in-law, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David "Apple" Adametz, on July 26, 1987, and Steven Adametz, on Apr. 9, 2000; a grandson, Joshua Adametz, on June 17, 2002; a brother, Bill Delkamp; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Skala and Chuck Frye.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Philp's Catholic Church in Highland with Father Kenneth J. Frisch officiating.
The McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home assisted the family.
