The following is a revised obituary for Mary Susan Rowles, Daughter of Benjamin Rowles and Angeline Payne. The original version of the obituary may be found in the November 22, 1900 edition of the "Spirit of Democracy".
Mrs. Mary S. Bradfield, the Wife of James Bradfield died on November 7, 1900 at the Athens State Hospital. She had been placed at the hospital about eight weeks prior to her death for mental health care.
Mary's remains were sent to Sistersville on the 8th of November. Mary's body was laid to rest in the Witten Cemetery on November 9, 1900 at 2:00 p.m.
Mary was "an obedient child, an amiable associate, an exemplary wife, and an affectionate mother."
According to Mary's obituary, she left behind "a husband, a father, four sisters and three sons to mourn her loss."
