OBITUARY Lt. Col. Lyle L. Ahner (Ret. USAF), 73, died Saturday (Dec. 16, 2000) in Sierra Vista, Ariz., where he had been a resident for six years. Lt. Col. Ahner served as a pilot, a staff officer, and security chief during his career with the Air Force. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was chief of police of Port of Stockton, Calif.; security manager for TWA and Bechtel Corp.; and security manager for Hughes Aircraft. He was a member of the NCPOA. He was born June 23, 1927, in Huntington to Ray and Kathryn Stern Ahner. His mother and father survive and live in Huntington [Parents are deceased]. Other survivors include his wife, two sons, a brother, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Elaine Bond; and a brother, DeWayne C. Ahner. Services with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. EST Friday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary, 5520 S. Santa Elena, Sierra Vista, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.
