Minars was born to Fred Hermann and Otillia Ernestine (Ernst) Baggenstoss. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He married Lorraine Loretta Bolstrom. They raised three children. He was survived by his parents; wife; 2 sisters, Yona (Warren) Scholl and Ruth Ann; 2 sons, Scott and Bruce; and 1 daughter, Nancy. He was buried on August 25, 1978.
