|Death: ||Jan. 26, 2008|
Elizabeth (Betty) Claire Abodeely, 91, of Phx. AZ, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 26, 2008. Betty was born on Oct. 27, 1916 in Dayton, Ohio to Albert J. and Wilba Hieber, moving to Toledo soon after.
Betty worked at City Loan and U.S. Standard Sign, but her best efforts went into creating a loving family with her husband of 48 years, Bob Abodeely. Besides her involvement with the family, she actively participated in Bob's WWII 34th Infantry Division functions, from hosting Tri-State chapter reunions to traveling through Europe with his fellow soldiers and their wives. She was always the gracious hostess and companion.
In retirement, she and Bob enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Phoenix. Lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Toledo, Betty was active in many aspects of the church and school she attended as a child. Moving to Phoenix after Bob's death, Betty found comfort in the community of St. Francis Xavier Parish by volunteering in the Marian Shop, sewing, and kitting with St. Ann's Guild, and being a member of the Rosary Group where she made many wonderful new friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Jane Harris, brother Jack Hieber, and is reunited with her husband Bob, who passed away in 1998.
She is survived by daughters, Marybeth Abodeely, and Carol (Bill) Perrin of Phoenix, and Nancy (Garry) Navarre of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Emily (Dan) Kingston, Katie Perrin, Taylor and Morgan Alexandra Navarre, and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Dylan Kingston.
She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews and their extended families along with her neighbors and friends all across the country. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Ave., with a rosary at 9:30 a.m.
Arrangements in Phoenix made by A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. Betty's final resting place in Toledo has been arranged by Coyle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix AZ 85014-5669.
