Johnny worked as a manager for Pacific Freight until he and his wife Eva bought Dennis Transfer Company from his sister, Lillie. They moved to Bremerton, WA after they retired where they bought a mobile home park. After a few years they sold it and moved to San Jose.

He was a avid golfer and loved his baseball games.

Johnny had a son, Larry, who lives in Washington State.
