Mrs. Doucet was one of the founders of the state and local F.B.L.A. She was active in Louisiana Girls State and a member of the Maltrait Mother's Club. She was also a majorette at S.L.I. She was founder of the Kaplan High School Art Club, a charter member of Chez Elles, an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also involved in the Kaplan Youth Softball and Baseball leagues. Mrs. Mitzi was a member of the National and District Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, the LA Teachers and Vermilion Parish Teachers Associations, the American Vocation Association, and the LA Business Education Association. She was a volunteer for the Holy Rosary Adoration Chapel, a past member of the Krewe of Chic-A-La-Pie and Delta Kappa Gamma. She served as an assistant Girl Scout Leader, a religion teacher for Holy Rosary religion classes and she taught Business Education at Kaplan High School. She was active with the Holy Rosary Cabrini Parish Food for the Bereaved Committee and a member of the Kaplan Helpline.
She is survived by two sons, Elton Edward Doucet Jr. and wife, Wendy of Houston, Texas and Ned Gerard Doucet and wife, Tammy of Kaplan; five daughters, Jeannette and husband, Michael Tate of Ville Platte, Anna Doucet Barton of Lafayette, Geralyn "Gigi" Bertrand and husband, Brian Bertrand of Lafayette, Mary Gerard Doucet of New York City, New York, and Maria D. and husband, Benji Abshire of Kaplan; one sister, Enella Sindlinger of Fresno, California; fourteen grandchildren: Michelle, Jonathan, and Lucas Tate; Joshua, Damian, and Lauren Doucet; Renée, Angelle, and Courtney Bertrand; Alan Richard and Taylor Abshire; Jessica Barton; and Joseph and Bella Doucet; and five great grandchildren: Zack Aucoin and Andre and Olivia Tate; Madison Tate; and Augustin "Gus" Richard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton E. Doucet; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fernand Sonnier and Mrs. Beulah Sonnier; one brother, B.J. Landry; and one grandchild, Casey Richard.
