Birth: Mar. 10, 1799
Berks County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Dec. 1, 1876
Clarion County
Pennsylvania, USA

Jacob and his wife, Sarah Hyskill Kahle, came to Clarion County in 1826 from Huntingdon County. The area, Warriors Mark, is now part of Centre County due to changes in county borders. Jacob was originally from Berks County and moved to Huntingdon with his parents. Jacob and Sarah lived about two miles north of Shippenville, in Elk Twp., Clarion Co. The couple had eleven children together. In 1857, Jacob was elected Associate Judge in Clarion County for one term. His main occupation was farming. Jacob was born in Heidelburg Twp., Berks County. No specific town. He was a great-grandson of the famed PA German Indian affairs diplomat and interpreter, Conrad Weiser. His paternal grandfather was a Revolutionary War soldier. Jacob's father spelled his name as "Kehl." Some of his descendants began using "Kahl" and others "Kahle." [text here was not copied and pasted from elsewhere]
Note that the photograph of Jacob at right is cropped from a copy of the original given to me by a great-Uncle by the name of Don Kahle. With Uncle Don's consent, I contributed the photograph for publication in the two-volume books called "Weiser Families in America," edited by Frederick S. Weiser and published in about 1995 and it has since been making the rounds on various internet sites. Uncle Don would be happy to know that many people are enjoying the effort he made to preserve this photograph. If you use this photograph, it sure would be nice if you cite where you found it by referring to this webpage, so Great Uncle Don's and his wife, Pauline's contribution to family history may be remembered. If it wasn't for them, no one would have or would have been able to identify the photo of Sarah and Jacob Kahl, which is a great treasure.
