Ludwig Alt married Anna M. Bauer on February 10, 1920, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin. They had 7 children. Ludwig and Anna were later divorced.
Ludwig Alt Dies at Age 77 - Ludwig Alt, 77, of Spring Green died Friday, Feb. 9, 1973 in the Veteran's Hospital in Madison. Mr. Alt was a veteran of World War I and farmed in the town of Franklin most of his life. He was a member of the Spring Green American Legion. He was also a member of St. John Catholic Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Agnes Nickolson, Mrs. Bernadine Retzloff [Retzlaff], and Mrs. Anna Mae Dickerson, all of Harvard, Ill., and Viola Mickley of Mineral Point; two sons, Floyd of Harvard, Ill., and Eugene of Elizabethtown, Ky.; a brother Herman of Spring Green, with whom he lived since 1941; a sister, Mrs. Emma Pretsch of Spring Green; 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the church with Father Fellenz officiating. Full military graveside services were held at Plain, and burial was in St. Luke Cemetery in the family plot of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Alt.

Mrs. Ann [Anna] Alt of Harvard, Illinois, died Sunday, January 1, 1978 at the age of 77. She was born September 22, 1900 at Plain, a daughter of Joseph and Gustie Bauer. She was married to Ludwig Alt in St. Luke's Catholic Church. She is survived by four daughters: Agnes Nicholson, Anna Mae Dickerson, and Bernadine Ratzlaff all of Harvard, and Viola Mackey of Medford. And by two sons: Floyd of Harvard and William of Missouri. A third son, Francis is dead. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren: and three brothers, Charles Bauer of Muscoda, Anthony and Henry Bauer of rural Plain; and three sisters: Clara Coyne of Evansville, Rose Peter of Blue River, and Christina Gall of San Antonio, Texas. One brother, John Bauer of Gotham, died last year. Funeral services were held at Harvard Tuesday.
