Frances (Franziska) Ringelstetter was born at house number 13 in Altenschneeberg, Kreis Cham, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany. She was baptized by Father G. Brunner on August 3, 1866 at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Tiefenbach. Her sponsors were Barbara and Andreas Ringelstetter of Tiefenbach.
At age 3, she emigrated in July 1870 with her family on the SS Baltimore from Bremen, Germany, to the Port of Baltimore, Maryland. In the United States, the family bought land in Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin, and later lived on a farm at Big Hollow in Bear Creek Township in Sauk County.
On January 9, 1889, she married Gustav Otto Alvin at St. Luke Catholic Church, Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin. Witnesses were John H. Bauer & Catharina Ringelstetter.
Frances and Gustav had 7 children: John Gustav, Anna Kathryn, Lawrence Andrew, Rose Irene, Herman "Bill" William, Joseph Hubert, and Frank A. Alvin. Gustav died at Bear Valley, Richland County, Wisconsin.
