THE VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALL IN WASHINGTON, D. C. EFFECTIVELY HELPED SHAPE A REEXAMINATION OF THE EXPERIENCE OF THE VIETNAM VETERAN. IT SHIFTED THE FOCUS FROM THE NEGATIVE STEROTYPES OF THE VETERAN THAT EVOLVED DURING THE WAR AND IN IT'S IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH AND ALLOWED PEOPLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LOSS OF MORE THAN 55,000 AMERICANS AND THE SACRIFICE OF THE OTHER TWO MILLION WHO SERVED. Pat received TWO medals --THE Republic of Vietnam Service Medal and the Purple Heart.
