Joseph H. Baird was married to Mary Catherine Truman in Champaign County, Illinois on April 24, 1862 by Phillip Yates, Justice of Peace. They had eight childern. Six of the children were born in Illinois and two in Kansas. Joseph was a farmer in Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Dr. Beitzel was called to Longford, Kansas Tuesday afternoon to attend Joseph Baird who had a slight stroke of paralysis, the second attack of the kind within a year. At last accounts Mr. Baird's condition was not considered serious.

Joseph Baird died at his home on the Harrington ranch, Saturday evening of heart failure, at the age of 65 years 8 months and 17 days. He had been in poor health for several weeks, but was apparently feeling much better. At about 6 o'clock he quietly passed away. he leaves a wife and three grown children to mourn his death.
The sympathy of the entire community is extend to the bereaved family.
Joseph H. Baird died on February 23, 1907 near Quinlan, Woodward County, Oklahoma. Joseph H. Baird is buried in the Union Cemetery, Woodward County, Oklahoma. The Union Cemetery is also known as the Brown Cemetery and is found south of Quinlan, Oklahoma on Highway 412.
