O'Neal Pendleton Hayden, 85, retired city employee died at 10:30 am Saturday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs J F Potts Sr, 1812 Market St, following an illness of about a year. A native of Orangeburg, SC he came to Jacksonville in 1906 and for many years he was park superintendent for the City of Jacksonville. Mr Hayden was a memer of the Main Street Baptist Church. Survivors are three daughters: Mrs J F Potts, Mrs J R Romedy, Mr and Mrs Jean Alpin all of Jacksonville; three brothers George Hayden, Jacksonville, J C Hayden, Orangeburg, R Hayden Augusta GA ; two sisters, Mrs Sue Whisenhunt, Roanoke, VA and Mrs William Lee Orangeburg, four grandchildren, J F Potts Jr, J R Romedy Jr, Mr Mary M Williams and Mr Lucy L Overholts and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Monday in Hardage and Sons Chapel, 617 Park Street with the Rev W I Sanders, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be J F Potts Sr, J R Romdey Sr, J R Romedy Jr, A B Dempsey, D T Jones and G A Hayden. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
