"Our Father has gone to a Mansion of Rest to the Glorious Land of the Heavenly Blessed."

Solomon Fletcher was the son of David Fletcher. He was a Farmer. He migrated from IN to Ray County, MO in abt 1815 with other family members. Solomon married his wife Elender (Ellen) Broadhurst on Jan 9 1834 in Ray County, MO. He left Ray County and was found in Buchanan County with his cousin Charles Fletcher. He began a trek from Mo to CA for the Gold Mines on 26 April 1850, arriving back in MO at the end of 1851. They left MO upon his return with money in hand from the success of his mining expedition, headed to Texas in covered wagons, arriving in Rockwall in 1852. Solomon along with his wife and 5 children moved to Rockwall what was then in the county of Kaufman, TX. Solomon was a member of Hope Baptist Church(Now known as First Baptist Church of Rockwall)He was elected Church Clerk in 1856 position held for 6 years. He later became a decan and was a regular messenger at associational meetings. He resigned from Clerk in 1867. His wife and childen were also members. He was also a member in the East Trinity Masonic Lodge No. 157. He was also appointed as one of the Trustees for the Union School House.
Solomon wrote articles for the Rockwall Success unknown how often. Solomon was a Confederate Soldier from Rockwall. He was a true pioneer both in Ray County, MO and Rockwall, Texas.
