Woman dies before 71st anniversary
Mrs. Gertrude E. Ament, 90, of 504 N. 7th St., Apollo, died in her home yesterday (July 26, 1966) at 3:10 p.m. following a lingering illness. She and her husband, George E. Ament, would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this Friday. Mrs. Ament was born Sept. 20, 1875, in Armstrong County. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Martha E. Spahr Hawk. She had lived in her late address for the last 48 years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Apollo. Surviving are her husband; three daughters Mrs. Paul Wilda Eckman, Canton, Ohio; Mrs. Avard Pauline Brinker, RD 4 Apollo, and Mrs. Thomas Velma Dunwirth, Apollo; two sons; Lyle K. Apollo, and Vernon, Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends – will be received in the N. Lee Roy King Funeral Home, 310 S. 2nd St., Apollo, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, and 10 a.m. to time of service at 1:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Fredrick Zikeli, her pastor. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
