Charles H. Ament Jr., 65, Vandergrift RD 2, died at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1978, at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Vandergrift, the son of the late Charles and Josephine (LaRoque) Ament. A resident of the Vandergrift area his entire life, Mr. Ament was employed by Ervin works prior to his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the first Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vandergrift. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Clark) Ament; one son Myron of Bethel Park; four daughters, Joan Peters of Bethel Township, Lois Harold, also of Bethel Township, Mrs. Charlotte Nulph of Ford City, and Mrs. Janet Calderon of Vandergrift; six brothers William, Louis, Earl, Lee and Jack all of Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, and Richard of Washington Township Westmoreland County; one sister, Mrs. Florence Bowman of Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. AMENT – Friends of Charles H. Ament Jr., who died Tuesday, Sep. 27, 1978, will be received from 7 to 9 this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Dunmire-Kerr Funeral Home, 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by his pastor, the Rev. Raymond Hausele. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, Arrangements by Dunmire-Kerr.
