Wylie Neilson, Sr., departed this life on April 1, 2002 to be with the Lord in his heavenly home. Born October 8, 1912 in Ada OK to James W. and Annie M. Brown. Graduated from Horace Mann High School in Ada in 1930 and attended Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater. Moved to Oklahoma City in 1933 and in 1934 went to work for Anderson Kerr (Kerr McGee Corp.). Married Kathleen Carter on June 5, 1937 and enlisted in the Army in November, 1942 and was assigned to the 15th Air Force stationed in Fogi, Italy. In 1946 he joined Jack Calloway Co. Realtors in Oklahoma City and 1952 opened his own real estate company located at 30th and Classen. He was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club, a Charter member of the Lakeview Country Club, a Deacon at Central Presbyterian Church and he also coached little league baseball and was active in Boy Scouts. He moved the family to Tulsa in 1965 and joined Jim Nuchols Royal Homes and in 1969 started building homes himself. In November 1977 his son, Steve, joined him in the home building business. His son Neil has his own security company in Tulsa. In 1989 he was recognized by the Governor of Oklahoma for his contribution to the real estate industry. His memberships include the Greater Tulsa Associatin of Realtors and The Tulsa Home Builders Association. His wife , Kathleen, of 59 years, preceded him in death in June, 1996. Survivoirs include: son Wylie Neilson Brown, Jr. of Tulsa, Steven C. Brown and his wife DeeAnna of Tulsa; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Brown of Oklahoma City, Suzanne and Shannon Brown of Tulsa. He was an exceptionally loving, giving and tender father, grandfather and friend. He will be forever remembered by all who loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his favorite charities,The American Red Cross or the American Lung Association, Tulsa Chapters. Graveside 2 p.m. Wednesday at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
