Mrs. Mary A. Brown was born September 14, in Alabama and was married to Joseph R. Brown on 23 May 1834. The family moved from Alabama to Tennesee and settled in Bedford County near Unionville where she died August 1, 1896. She professed religion in 1843 in Alabama at a Presbyterian Meeting and at once joined the Methodist Church. She was buried beside her husband and some of her children.
My gg grandmother, Mary Ann, is the daughter of William Clary and Nancy Wright. Mary Ann married Joseph Redding Brown on 22 May 1834 in Madison County AL. Joseph's tombstone can be seen in the adjoining photo but Mary Ann's tombstone cannot be found or never existed. She is however, buried here in the Allison Cemetery at Unionville according to her obituary in the Shelbyville Times Gazette of August 20, 1896.
See her huband's memorial for a short family biography from Goodspeed's "History of Tennesee" Nashville 1887.
