Birth: 1897
New York, USA
Death: 1991
District Of Columbia, USA

Charles A. Levine, known as the first Trans-Atlantic passenger, was a Jewish American from Massachussets. He was an early aviation pioneer and promoter. Because of legal issues, his plane, the Columbia, flown by Clarence Chamberlin, was delayed for two weeks. The delay of the Columbia permitted Charles A. Lindberg, taking off from the same airfield, to cross the Atlantic first. The Columbia did cross the Atlantic faster and flew further than Lindberg. Levine was celebrated in Europe for his accomplishments in aviation, meeting heads of state and the Pope in Rome.

You flew further and faster across the Atlantic than Lindberg. It would have been your name that would have the ring "lucky Levine" instead of Lindberg. You brought pride to being a Jew.
