Michael Blanton Barr, 54, a lawyer specializing in energy and environmental law and project development for power companies, died of cancer at his Chevy Chase home.
From 1985 to 2000, Mr. Barr was managing partner of the Washington office of Virginia's largest law firm, Hunton & Williams. In recent years, he headed the firm's energy law group and was co- director of its project development, finance and leasing group. He advised governments, developers, investors and others on energy plant privatizations in the United States, Brazil and elsewhere.
Michael Blanton Barr of Chevy Chase, Md. departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Nickeson Barr; one son, Nicholas; two daughters, Jessica and Alice; his mother, Rosemary Blanton Quatmann; brothers, Harry, John, Kevin, Thomas and Lewis; sisters, Anne, Maureen and Rosemary; also surviving are 28 nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 36th and O Sts., N.W., Washington, DC on Tuesday, September 10 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael B. Barr Scholarship Fund, c/o Georgetown Day School, 4530 MacArthur Blvd., N.W., WDC 20007.
