TIPP CITY - Frank Richard Benham, 65, of Tipp City, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born on Nov. 19, 1947, in Troy, to Virginia (Shock) Benham of Tipp City, and the late Frank Arthur Benham.
He is survived by his wife of more than 40 years of marriage, Jayne E. (Burch) Benham; three daughters and a son-in-law, Jessica Zank and her fiancÚ, Shawn Taxis of Pleasant Hill, Amanda Benham of Troy, and Katie and Matt Clevenger of Tipp City; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Steve Kocur of Point Pleasant, N.J., Mary Beth and Tyler George of Troy, Ruth and Todd Caldwell of Tipp City, and Rita and Rod Boyer of Troy; and three grandchildren, Samuel and Simon Zank, and Ivan Clevenger.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Arthur.
Richard was a 1966 graduate of Miami East High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Cove Springs Church, Troy VFW Post No. 5436, AmVets Post No. 88, Tipp City Eagles Aerie No. 2201, Troy Fish & Game Club, and the Americal Division Veterans Association.
Richard retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30-plus years of service. He was also an area farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with the Rev. Paul Calvert officiating. Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, with VFW Memorial Honor Guard at the graveside. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
