George C Leonhardt was known as Christian or Chris. He came to the US from Kleingartach, Wurttemberg, Germany in 1883 and became a naturalized citizen in 1886. He married Elizabeth Maag in 1884 in Canton, Stark Co. Ohio. Within a couple of years he moved his family to Kelly's Island and worked as a cobbler there. Later he moved his family to Norwalk and worked as a cobbler at the Glass Block. He built the house at 14 Olive Street Norwalk, lived the rest of his life and died there. His grave marker is the first Woodmen of the World marker for that branch of the faternal order.
