Floyd "Blackie" Adamson was born April 1, 1917, in Montgomery County near Mt. Ida and died at home with his family on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008. He was a member of the Church of Christ faith. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles E. Adamson and Nellie Adamson; brothers, Robert Adamson and Clayton Adamson; and sisters, Velma Finney and Irene Whitlow.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Grace Day Adamson; children, Joyce Adamson Worley (husband Roy) and Charles Norman Adamson; and grandchildren, Michael Allen Worley and Tiffany Adamson Parrish (husband Steve).
Mr. Adamson was a World War II veteran, serving in the 9th Armored Division. He received a belated Presidential Unit Citation in 1991 for his actions during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Mr. Adamson lived in North Little Rock for many years, working and teaching at Pulaski Vo Tech in the air-conditioning field. He retired as a civilian employee of the Little Rock Air Force Base. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Corley, where they lived until three years ago when they moved back to North Little Rock.
The family would like to thank Hospice, especially Suzie Johnson, for their care during this time.
Funeral was 2 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Corley Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home-Paris
