Jesse Wilsey Armacost
Services for Jesse 65, of Coos Bay, will be held Wednesday at 2pm at the Coos Bay Chapel of Campbell-Watkins Funeral Home, with the Rev Malcolm Turkington of the Charleston Community Church officiating. Private internment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Coos Bay, Oregon.
A resident of the Bay Area for 40 years. Mr. Armacost was born Sep 26, 1914 in Sioux City, Iowa to John B Armacost and
Myrtle Ivy Keith-Armacost and died of a heart attack on Mar 9, 1980 in Coos Bay, Oregon.
He served with the US Army TEC5 during WWII, he served under General George Patton during the African Campaign.
Jesse was a state Class A millwright and worked in construction 30 years, he was a member of Carpenters Local and a certified welder. He was employed by his son, Gary Armacost Construction Company and was the owner of ALAR Ceramic Studio with his wife Alice E Armacost and daughter Louise Williams for 34 years, the oldest existing ceramic studio in Oregon.
Survivors included his wife Alice Edith Morrison-Armacost, daughters Louise B Williams, of Coos Bay and Mary Alice Kronenberg of Scottsdale, Arizona, and a son Gary Armacost of Coos Bay. A brother John Armacost of Waterville, Washington, 4 granddaughters, 2 Great-Grandson's and 1 Great-Granddaughter.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roslyn Gayle Armacost who died in 1972.
Jesse was the middle son of John B. and Myrtle Ivy Keith-Armacost and was siblings with John B. Jr. and Rosyln Gayle Armacost
When Jesse Wilsey Armacost was born on September 26, 1914, in Sioux City, Iowa, his father, John, was 45 and his mother, Myrtle, was 21. He married Alice Edith Morrison on October 27, 1942, in Vancouver, Washington. They had one child during their marriage. He died on March 9, 1980, in Coos Bay, Oregon, at the age of 65 of a heart attack while tying up a goat on his property.
