Glenn Truett Arnold of Goode, Virginia, formerly of Lake Jackson, Texas was born at home July 25, 1935 and was called Home November 6, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Glenn was born in Houston, Texas to George T. and Alice Arnold. He graduated from Reagan High School in 1953 and University of Houston in 1965. He had a successful career as an accountant, retiring from Enterprise Products Company, in December 2001. After retiring, Glenn loved serving the Lord by visiting ships and sharing his faith through the ministry of The Seaman's Center in Freeport, Texas. He was also an active member at First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson. After moving to Virginia 18 months ago, Glenn became a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and continued to share his faith with those he came in contact with. Whether meeting new friends, visiting with old friends, or taking cancer treatments, he pointed others to Jesus Christ, giving God glory.
Glenn is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Joyce J. Arnold, three children: daughter Marilyn Pace and husband Chuck, of Goode, Virginia; son Phil Arnold and fiance' Jo Ellen Andrews of Grovetown, Georgia; son Steve Arnold of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren: Catherine Pace Vaughn and husband Ryan, of Goode, Virginia; Collins Pace and wife Jenna, of Longview, Texas; Heather Hosgood and husband Jason, of Evans, Georgia; Greg Arnold and wife Jennifer, of Carrollton, Georgia; Ashley Davis and husband Jerad, of Chatsworth, Georgia; Jessie Arnold of Evans, Georgia; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by brother-in-law Harley Jewell and wife Doris, sister-in-law Ann Arnold, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jerry Arnold, and grandson, Charles "Jackson" Pace, III.
A celebration of Glenn's life will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Virginia, with Chuck Pace officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Virginia Memorial Cemetery in Forest, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons, grandsons-in-law, Harley Jewell and friends Alan Bryant, Bobby Spry, and Ted Whitney. Honorary pallbearers are the Adult 4 Sunday School men of First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gospelink, Inc., P.O. Box 4299, Lynchburg, VA 24502, a ministry organization which supports national (native) preachers in Africa and Asia.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the prayer support and many expressions of love over the past year. They would also like to thank Centra Hospice for the wonderful care provided and Thomas Road Baptist Church for the pastoral care.
